Let's Go to Camp!
Hundreds have developed a close relationship with Jesus Christ through the
camping programs at Wilderness, and now YOU can become part of the "Wilderness
Experience." Footsteps Camps, a series of camps at Wilderness, are led and staffed by members of the KNUMC congregation. Currently there are three Footsteps Camps annually: Footsteps, 3/4ths..., Footsteps..., and Footsteps, too....
Footsteps... is for campers entering grades 5 through 7 and focuses on team-building and Bible study (along with lots of fun and games). Footsteps, too... is for campers entering grades 8 through 11 and focuses on leadership using puppetry as its primary method of building worship leaders (along with lots of fun and games). Both Footsteps... and Footsteps, too... are six-day, five-night camps, are held concurrently, and have some interaction.
New in 2019 was Footsteps, 3/4.... Pastor Paul co-directed this camp for kids entering either 3rd or 4th grade in the fall. Footsteps, 3/4... is a three-day, two-night camp for beginning campers and focuses on God's Promises (along with lots of fun and games).
Campers are involved in swimming, paddle boarding, Wacky Olympics, fishing, crafts, praise songs, individual and team recreation, campfires, cookouts, nature adventures, and many more activities. Get the picture? All camps are fun-packed with Christian education, teaming opportunities, leadership development, and, of course, fun and games.
Our camping leadership is currently working on a plan to start a fourth Footsteps Camp in the near future. This one will be geared toward special-needs campers. Keep checking this page and our camp newsletter at footstepscamps.org for more information.
Not yet ready to let your child go alone? Choose Grand Camp where a grandparent can go with a grandchild between the ages of 5 and 7, or Family Camp for the whole family. KNUMC Baby Grace also sponsors Baby Grace camps for parents and children. There is a wide variety of camps for nearly any age and interest. As the camping season approaches a complete list of available camps will be posted on this page.
Dates and costs for the 2020 camp season are not yet set. Check this site regularly beginning mid-January for more information about registration. KNUMC pays one-half of any fee (one-fourth coming from the United Methodist Women, and the other one-fourth coming from the church) making camp very affordable. Scholarships are also available to those needing extra help. Camps fill quickly (in 2019 Footsteps, too... filled in less than a week) so it's important to register as soon as practical.
Camp voucher codes and additional information on volunteer/counseling opportunities are available by contacting the church office or Carolyn and Jerry Akins(660 563 4753). Hope to see YOU at camp this year for faith, fun, and fellowship.
